James Kincaid, Aerol Arnold Professor of English at the University of Southern California,
researches in the fields of critical theory, Nineteenth-Century Studies, American Studies
and Queer Studies. He is a widely accepted authority on Victorian literature and culture
and his recent work has focused on the history and current cultural practices of eroticising
children and the institution of elaborate scapegoating rituals to disguise these practices.
His publications include Erotic Innocence: The Culture of Child Molesting (1998), Annoying
the Victorians (1995), Sympathetic Identifications (1993), and Child-Loving: The Erotic
Child and Victorian Culture (1992). He is also co-author of a novel: A History of the African American People by Strom Thurmond as Told to Percival Everett
and James Kincaid (2004).
