David Norbrook
David Norbrook is the Merton Professor of English Literature at Oxford.
Before that he was Fellow and Tutor in English at Magdalen College, Oxford (1978-98),
and Professor of English at the University of Maryland, College Park.
He has contributed widely to literary and historical journals, and he has held a British Academy Readership,
and fellowships in the USA. His ground-breaking book, Poetry and Politics in the English Renaissance (1984) was recently
re-published in a revised edition by Oxford University Press in 2002, the Penguin Book of Renaissance Verse (with Henry Woudhuysen)
appeared in 1992, and his Writing The English Republic: Poetry, Rhetoric and Politics, 1627-1660 was published by
Cambridge University Press in 1999.
